GST changes
GST rebates on new home construction have changed as of Jan 1st, 2008. Under the new legislation GST can be rebated upon purchaser application, to the lessor of 36% of GST paid on the sale price, or $6,300.

Grow OPS - homes tagged by city officials for the production of illegal substances. Under new regulations, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam are charging upto $10,000 fine plus inspection, cleanup and permit costs to owners of property cited as Grow OPS. Port Moody has adopted a fine upto $5,000 plus inspection, cleanup and permit costs. Also, property offered for sale after being cited are required to be disclosed as former Grow OPS - creating a stigmatized property in the resale process. Real Estate Agents are required to fully disclose prior Grow OPS during the marketing process. Note - cited Grow OPS have their occupancy permit revoked by the city - rendering them uninhabitable until remediation has occured.
